I'm Back! MG Strike ver. RM Complete!

It was a long hiatus that started with the release of Destiny, but I'm back and to commemorate my return, I decided to build the MG version of my blog's very first SD version of the Strike!

Hit the bump for the pictures!

MG Red Frame Kai Complete!

It's all done! This project took almost a month to complete because of some setbacks, but I have to say, the result was well worth the wait. Since I wanted to preserve the paint job, there will be hardly any action poses. I'm still satisfied with the photos I have of it though.

Note: Just as a warning, this post is picture heavy! I believe, there's around 80 pictures total.

MG Red Frame Kai WIP 4

The suit itself is finished! However, before I get to the rest of the pictures, I'd like to go in chronological order.

Not too big of an update, but I decided to post at least 1 post per week or try to anyways.

New Project! MG Red Frame Kai WIP 1

It's finally time for a new project and this time it's my very first Master Grade, the Red Frame Kai! If anyone is wondering what part of the box my sneak peak picture was from my previous post, it's the very top part where you see a Gundam with a red aura around it.

RG Freedom Complete!

Here it is! I started this kit about a month ago and I've finished it about a week ago, but I finally got around to photographing it. It is fully painted and decaled using a 3rd party waterslide decals from gobaltoy over at eBay. I can't give a review of the decals since this is the first kit I've ever decaled; thus, I have no experience using Bandai's or even Samuel Decal's that I can compare with. However, I can say that I've had no problems with it.

RG Freedom WIP 2.5 + HG AGE-FX WIP 1

The holidays this year was pretty good for me and I hope everyone else had a great time. I did get some more Gunpla for myself (darn you sales!) as well as Gunpla gifts from others. I'll be posting the pictures of my new items in my next post since I forgot to take them for this post. Anyways, here's my progress report:

RG Freedom WIP 2.5? Why the 0.5? Well, that's because I haven't progressed enough with it to justify calling it WIP 3. So what have I done with it? I got the 3rd party water slide decals, have placed some on the kit, and cleaned up some messy panel lines.

RG Freedom WIP #2 + New Items!

It's been nearly 2 weeks since my last post, but I'm back with some more updates. Before I get into the Freedom, I'd like to show off a couple great items. First is /r/gunpla's secret santa gift exchange over at reddit:

After getting home late, a box from modelgrade was waiting for me in front of my door. It was too early for the Nu Gundam Ver. Ka to come so I knew it would be from my secret santa. I excitedly opened the box as soon as I got in and saw my nicely wrapped gift (good job on the wrapping modelgrade!). I decided to leave it wrapped until Christmas, but the next morning I couldn't wait so I unwrapped it as soon as I got up. Here's my thought process:

Nicely wrapped. I wonder what it is!

New Project: RG Freedom WIP 1

As stated in my earlier post, my 2nd kit is the RG Freedom. I've been looking forward to building this because it'll be my introduction into the RG scale. Let's get to it!

SD Strike Update: Finished!

It's finally done! It took a very long time because of several setbacks, but I finished it. The final product has been panel lined with both Fine Point Gundam Marker and enamel washes and it's been sprayed with Mr. Topcoat flat. There are a lot of pictures for this post so bear with me guys. Before we get onto the pictures, here is the list of paints and topcoats that I've used for this kit (the numbers next to them signify their respective paint code):

SD Strike WIP 2

Hi guys! First of all, I hope you all had a great holiday as well as an awesome Black Friday! Now, on to business.

I've been wanting to update my blog for a while now, but since I wanted to take some pictures during the daytime I didn't have a chance until today. So starting from where I left off last time, all parts are painted!

I've got to say that it came out better than I expected, especially the head and the torso unit. I'm a bit partial towards how the blue camera turned out though. I was hoping that I could get a clear blue effect as if it was a clear blue plastic part if you know what I mean. However, there is no clear effect. It still does look good, but it's just not what I wanted. Maybe I should used 1 very light clear blue coat instead of 2 regular coats. Lesson learned. I also did some mock build to see how it'll turn out and here are the results in segment sequences:

Starting with Strike!

Hello, everyone. Before I get into my first Gunpla blog, I wanted to mention that this is my first blog ever and that any constructive criticism / advice or hate comments will be greatly appreciated and duly noted, respectively. Also, I decided to start this blog in the middle of painting, so it's not really from start to finish. Lastly, as I figure out how html works, the blog should look better than it is now. Now then, on with Gunpla!

Even though I'm not new with Gunpla itself, I've never actually fully built a model. When I say fully, I mean using the correct tools, painting, and detailing. I used twist the parts or forcefully break off the nubs. However, after finding and looking at the works from the people over at /r/gunpla, I decided to try fully building kits from now on. So I built myself a DIY painting booth, bought the necessary tools and paints, and most importantly the models. Since I'm new to the painting world of Gunpla, I figured I would start out with the easiest to build SD series. Thus, I chose this as my test / pratice kit:
